Trouble with GIF Images

How are you supposed to save a GIF? I think that’s what I am doing wrong because I just saved this spinning World by right clicking, save as picture and it’s then saved as JPEG and only spins when I open it on my computer. I then, right clicked, copied and pasted here in my Windows Live Writer and it’s spinning now.

What just happened is what I want to talk about today, there must be something that I am doing wrong or that I don’t understand about using them or something. My wife just sent me an Email with this in it, What is a GIF? I am going to have to read it and see if there’s anything that’s in it that will help me to understand what I am dealing with here.

The whole thing started when I was in my StumbleUpon Blog and someone had sent me an Email with this GIF in it;

I liked it so much that I put it on my StumbleUpon Blog as a Greeting to people who would visit my Blog there. I thought it was cute like I was tipping my hat to visitors that came to see my Blog. Then last night the Invisible Man disappeared, so to speak, there was a box with a red X in the corner of it. I didn’t do anything, it just disappeared. I tried to re-enter the HTML code but the Invisible Man wouldn’t reappear.

That’s one of the reasons I am writing about GIF images here today, I wonder if any of you out there have had a similar experience with GIF images? If you know why an image would be there one day and have the dreaded X the next day? Is it something that I am doing wrong?

I thought that it might be because it wasn’t stored anywhere so I opened an ImageShack® account and have had bad luck trying to use it. I wanted the account because on StumbleUpon you have to write the HTML with the URL where the picture is stored to have it in your Blog. Oh, by the way that project that I was working on yesterday turned out fine, I was able to post my Blog here in my Windows Live Space Blog and in my StumbleUpon Blog, and I was surprised that it worked.

I will be keeping an eye on the Invisible Man to see if he stays here or gets the dreaded red X where he was, I also have the spinning World to check on to see if it stays here as sort of a test. Me asking do you have “Trouble with GIF Images?”

Thanks for Listening,

Jeff
