I think “Presidents’ Day” should be a celebration for all the Presidents that have served The United States of America. Not to take anything away from George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, mind you, but give credit to these great men who have given so much of their lives to be the leader of America and the President. I am sure that I am not the first person to think of this idea, either, and I
wonder why it’s not for all the Presidents? I found this about Presidents Day after I wrote that: “A day for honoring both Washington and Lincoln, as well as all the other men who have served as president.”

It’s a federal holiday that really doesn’t get much fanfare, I guess that’s because the average Joe still has to go to work, it’s federal employees, banks and the stock market that get the day off with pay, as far as I can see. Maybe that’s why the only way that I know that it’s even Presidents’ Day is because it’s on the calendar and a few stores have a sale today. Is it just me or do you feel like there should be more to this holiday? Come to think of it, maybe I am just saying this because it’s the way that I feel.
Here’s a list of the federal holidays:

Eleven federal holidays and of course we all have to add our own birthday into this list, “Right?” What I am trying to say, “Is if you don’t get the day off with pay it doesn’t really make it much of a holiday does it?” So for a few people it’s a
holiday but for the rest of the people it’s just a holiday by name. Holiday according to Encarta: legal day off, so maybe that’s why Presidents’ Day doesn’t get the fanfare that it deserves, it’s just like any another day if you don’t get it off with pay.
Thanks for Listening,
Jeff
