How befitting that today as we are “Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday!” and history is being made tomorrow with the inauguration of America’s first African-American president Barack Obama that these two days should coincide together side by side. It’s like destiny had this all planned out form the
beginning and I feel so fortunate to see it all happening right before my eyes, it’s amazing. My prayer is that what Dr. King’s life did for civil rights will continue with President-elect Barack Obama’s vision for America and get this country back on its feet…With peace and prosperity for all the people of the world, because no one country is an island and we are all one on planet earth!
I think we as human beings tend to focus our efforts on specific areas such as civil rights, the economy, education, health care, government and
the list goes on and on…But what definitely needs to change is our way of thinking about the best way to accomplish world peace and use the earth’s resources and technology economically. The directions of the past haven’t worked as well as they could have in the pursuit of spreading civil rights, freedom and world peace. Violence begets more violence, and Dr. King’s wisdom and vision for the future proved that with leadership and direction a person of his heritage could become president of the United States of America.
I’m sure that today on Dr. King’s birthday that he is in his glory, smiling down from heaven, and rejoicing that his work done here on
earth has given his brother Barack Obama a chance to change government and the world for the better! If you’re interested this is what I wrote last year on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and I made the mistake of proclaiming that Today I am a Writer! I’m not going to make that same mistake again this year, because I’ve learned my lesson. Instead I will leave you with this thought:
Greatness is not achieved by the color of one’s skin, but by the desire in his heart to do God’s will and make the world a better place for us all!
Thanks for Listening,
Jeff

Oh Jeff. Thank-you for posting this today and taking time to remind us of one who worked here on earth so unselfishly and take up a leadership role and speak to the best of our humanity. I appreciate so much and this was a good evening prayer for me. Mr. King is telling me not to be frightened and to stand up. Thank you very much Jeff. Also send wishes for peaceful and joyous inauguration celebration in U.S. tomorrow. I will watch 0800 YVR time. God Bless.
