This is the 25th anniversary of a man’s Legacy of Service that we’re celebrating today in remembrance with “Martin Luther King Day!” This is what I wrote last year on this date: “In honor of “Martin Luther King Day!” I’m posting this How Long? Not Long! video in answer to this question, “How long will it take to have an African American president in the White House?” An I watched this speech by President Barack Obama titled Martin Luther King and the Challenges of a New Age from The White House Blog. In answer to my question. This what I wrote in 2009 and in 2008, but the division in our government (Republican versus Democrat) about this
counties basic human need for health care is something that I find very troubling. It reminds me of the civil and political rights issue between the people who have, and the people who have not. This division of our country America.”
Today I wanted to share this Email I received from the Organizing for America blog titled “Standing Together is Service” this is the opening statement: “To commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, the First Lady has written to Organizing for America supporters, inviting everyone to find a service event in their neighborhood.” Continue Reading→
Although I haven’t written very much today I am trying to follow my blog’s theme of Writing just to Write! in particularly “Allow myself to take a break from writing every day.” this being a holiday and all. I hope that you all have a Great holiday remembering this Great man and I wanted to post this from Beliefnet:
In Remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
God of our forebears and our God, who has summoned women and men throughout the ages to be thy witnesses and sometimes martyrs for thee, we bow before thee this day in remembrance and thanksgiving for the life and legacy of thy servant, witness and martyr, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We thank thee for his time among us, for his words and for his deeds, and for the quality of his living witness which eases the pain of recalling the brevity of his years. We rejoice in his example of obedient faith and the scenes and stations of his life which inform and enrich our own faith journeys. And we beseech thee this day for the strength, steadfastness and courage not only to remember but also to obey.
Thanks for Listening,
Jeff
