In this edition of Fiction Friday we’ll be using the title of “Wicked’s escape from Reality” to see where his story will take us today. Wicked was trying to ponder the definition of reality and he liked this from the page: “Reality is often contrasted with what is imaginary, delusional, (only) in the mind, dreams, what is abstract, what is false, or what is fictional.“ But Wicked likes to use his imagination to take us all to places that exist only in his mind.

So in a sense what Wicked is talking about today is to escape reality by entering an imaginary place or an awareness in his mind. One of the reasons that Wicked chose today’s title was to try an escape this year’s political election. But he realizes there is no escaping the delusional political TV advertisements plaguing the air waves.

What Wicked has been doing to try and escape the reality of this bombardment of campaign advertising is to meditate on his breath or breathing as these commercials are running on the TV. Altering his state of consciousness has really helped Wicked to be more focused on what’s important in his life: Like breathing!

My Unique Life in Windows Live Space | Writing just to Write!

Today my thoughts are on how every day is “A new day to Write” something, and where will my mind take me with these words? Oh sure, you’re welcome to come along on this excursion of my thoughts, if you’d like to? But I really have no idea where I’m heading with my writing practice on this new day.

This freedom to say, write, or go anywhere with one’s thoughts is an amazing thing, but I find it very difficult to put one’s imagination into words. It seems to me that by writing down these almost imaginary thoughts in my mind; by changing them into words that their meaning or essence is diminished or lost. But then each new day as I’m Writing just to Write I’m searching for a way to express these ideas.

Although this idea of putting one’s imagination into words and then writing these ideas down on the page is really nothing new: For me at the moment on this new day to write my ability is challenged to learn how to write by writing each day. Whether or not you’ve made it with me on this little excursion of thoughts today is the question on my mind? Tomorrow is another new day to write!

My Unique Life in Windows Live Space | Writing just to Write!

I’m having a little trouble today “Making up my Mind,” about what to try and write about and to share with all of you. So I thought that I’d just start typing and see what turns up on the page. But I’ve got this strange feeling today that putting my thoughts and ideas together is going to be a very difficult task to try and accomplish for me, for some reason. Maybe it’s because I can’t seem to make up my mind?

Today is Ash Wednesday which is the day after Mardi Gras and that’s what I wrote about in yesterday’s blog entry. Or maybe I’m experiencing this trouble with getting my thoughts together and writing today, because I’ve just been copying and pasting words instead of trying to write something new. (A bit of a mind game going on here with these thoughts, but on with the task at hand.)

But I was also reminiscing about the past and what I’d been writing about on this date last year with Counting down the Days! and moving all my blog entries. So this conflict with making up my mind today about what to write about is just more of the same kinds of indecision that I’ve got to deal with every day. So I’ve made up my mind now and this concludes my writing practice for today.

Today is Mardi Gras which is French for Fat Tuesday, or around here we say, “Happy Pączki Day,” or maybe you know today as Shrove Tuesday: “for the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of the Christian season of fasting and prayer called Lent.”

“Whenever I’ve got a question about a religious holiday or any other questions on my mind, I like to use Bible Questions Answered, to help me find the information that I’m looking for, like today’s question: “What is the origin of Fat Tuesday / Mardi Gras?” I also watched a few videos on the History Channel about Mardi Gras to try and get some information about the holiday.” And this quote is from a previous post.

Why do I find “Washington’s Birthday” so confusing? Well, for one thing today is not George’s birthday and this from the list of federal holiday’s page at Wikipedia:

Honors George Washington. Often popularly, but erroneously, observed as “Presidents Day” in recognition of other American presidents, such as Abraham Lincoln (who was born February 12). The legal name of the federal holiday, however, remains “Washington’s Birthday”. (It was historically observed on February 22, prior to passage of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act by Congress)

And although the official name of this holiday is Washington’s Birthday: ”It is also commonly known as Presidents Day (sometimes spelled Presidents’ Day or President’s Day). As Washington’s Birthday or Presidents Day, it is also the official name of a concurrent state holiday celebrated on the same day in a number of states.”

My Unique Life in Windows Live Space | Writing just to Write!

It’s Sunday and Joel Osteen’s message is titled “Deal With It!” And this it that Joel is talking about today: Is anything that is keeping you from being your best in life. These are my notes that I took as I watched and listened to Joel’s broadcast. Please feel free to Click Here for today’s Podcast to listen to it for yourself. These things that are keeping us from being our best: They may be an addiction, a bad habit, a hot temper, or something smaller, like getting to work on time. God is always dealing with us about something; He wants us to come up to a new level in life.

But anytime we go up higher, part of our flesh has to go lower. The Scripture says: “If we’re going to share in Christ’s glory we have to share in His suffering.” There’s a suffering that we as believers are supposed to endure; as it says in 1 Peter 4:1 we are to say no to our flesh. God has our best interests at heart. And if we’re feeding the desires of our flesh it will become stronger. We need to be feeding the desires of our spirit so that it will be what is growing stronger.

When we are trying to deal with it we should remember: What we don’t confront we will not conquer when dealing with these desires of the flesh. We need to humbly go to God and ask Him for His help in overcoming these desires of the flesh. It takes humility to admit these unwanted desires of the flesh and to ask God for His help to give us the strength to do what we cannot do for ourselves.

With every act of obedience, there is a blessing. When God asks you to do something that seems difficult — forgive somebody that really hurt you, walk away from a friend that is polluting your life, let go of an addiction— it takes a major effort on your part. Receive God’s blessing by dealing with it!

My Unique Life in Windows Live Space | Writing just to Write!

Although I find great comfort in “The solitude of Writing,” is this solitude lost by expressing myself in words? The answer to this question may be revealed by whether anyone is reading this, but short-term solitude: “is often valued as a time when one may work, think or rest without being disturbed.” An as I write this in this moment there is a feeling of great solitude as I practice my writing today.

So now the question becomes: Do I enjoy the solitude of putting my thoughts into words and sharing them with all of you? Or should I keep these kinds of thoughts to myself and enjoy this solitude? Either way I’ve enjoyed this solitary moment in time and whether anyone else can appreciate these thoughts is really unknown to me.

Today’s subject reminds of my introverted personality and how much I like to keep things to myself which makes writing something every day very difficult for me. But each day I try to break this solitary feeling that I have to keep my thoughts to myself and to try and express what’s on my mind by writing.

My Unique Life in Windows Live Space | Writing just to Write!

In this week’s edition of Fiction Friday we have “Wicked is trying to Relax,” and he’ll be trying to familiarize himself with using meditation: “is any form of a family of practices in which practitioners train their minds or self-induce a mode of consciousness to realize some benefit.“

This story has come to mind from one of Wicked’s previous entries titled The search is the Story and here is a quote: “The word enlightenment is defined as awareness or understanding along with many other synonyms to describe its meaning: Such as insight, open-mindedness, comprehension, along with many other words to describe its intangible meaning like knowledge or wisdom or refinement.“

Wicked is constantly searching for awareness: “is the state or ability to perceive, to feel, or to be conscious of events, objects or sensory patterns.“ His search for this elusive form of consciousness is to try and see beyond the present moment in time. To prophecy one’s future in a not yet moment in time somewhere off into this unknown region we call the future.

Our thoughts create our reality in this life…So can a person visualize the future they wish to see in their life by thinking futuristic thoughts to become reality?

My Unique Life in Windows Live Space | Writing just to Write!

Today’s idea is “To write something Better,” but better than what? Better than what I’d written yesterday? Or better than what I wrote last year on this date? But my blog’s theme of Writing just to Write really isn’t about writing something better each day, although that’s great idea, it’s just about writing something each day. And I’ll place all kinds of mental barriers in my mind or obstacles in my way as I try to practice my writing on a daily basis.

I truly believe that overcoming these psychological barriers in my mind would allow me to become a better writer, but really I just want to learn how to write by writing something every day. Whether or not I’m actually getting any better by practicing communicating my thoughts into writing each day is really kind of irrelevant to me at the moment, because I’m just enjoying putting my thoughts into words.

Oh, sure I’d like to write something better than this for all of you to read today, but I have absolutely no idea what that piece of writing would look like? Maybe that is why I continue to try and write each day? Or it could be because of the fact that I just enjoy getting these kinds of thoughts out of my head by writing them down in this journal of my life.

My Unique Life in Windows Live Space | Writing just to Write!

Although “I’d rather not write Today” because I’m not feeling quite up to par at the moment and there’s this feeling of being a bit under the weather emotionally. Or maybe a better description of how I’m feeling might be emotionally irritable with an overwhelming feeling like I want to climb under a rock and hide today. Yeah, that sounds about right, I guess? But, I still feel a bit uncomfortable about sharing this kind of feeling today with all of you and writing this down in my blog.

But I’ve been putting off writing about this emotional feeling for quite some time now. Hoping that I’d come up with something better to write about today, and I just can’t seem to shake this feeling. In my first year of blogging I was Looking for an Epiphany in 2007 and tried writing about my emotions, without a lot of success if I do say so for myself.

So I didn’t feel like writing anything today, but I’m glad that I did. Because putting these feelings into words with this writing therapy has really made me feel a little better today by getting these thoughts off of my mind. I really would’ve liked to write something much more cheery for today, but this will just have to do.
