This is a story that I was working on for Fiction Friday but it didn’t even meet the criteria for the writing prompt:
Pick an existing character. Give them a nickname, but don’t wimp-out and make it a common one. Now tell the story of how the nickname came about.
This is a great writing prompt and the story that goes with it should be fun too! The character Wicked is base on Yosemite Sam and the correlation between them is not as obvious as one might think. The writing of fiction is not something that has been in my repertoire; in fact writing is not in my repertoire. To be able to write anything I have to trick my mind into writing from a Point of View that has left me baffled as to whose it actually is.
Wicked’s name, was chosen from this list:
It’s from Wicked’s Character and it is a combination of a cartoon character, Yosemite Sam, a name chosen from the list and a figment of my imagination.
I laughed so hard when I read how many names that Sam/Wicked has had: “In cartoons with non-Western themes, he uses various aliases, including “Chillicothe Sam” in 14 Carrot Rabbit, “Riff Raff Sam” in Sahara Hare, “Sam Schulz” in Big House Bunny, “Seagoin’ Sam” in Buccaneer Bunny, “Shanghai Sam” in Mutiny on the Bunny, and “Sam Von Schamm the Hessian” in Bunker Hill Bunny.”
The reason that I am putting this in my Blog today is that I hate to throw any of my writing away, whether it’s any good or not. Evidently I wanted to tell this story about how I am trying to learn how to write, fiction or anything else. Although Wicked’s character doesn’t sound anything like Sam, never the less, that’s what I had to do to trick my mind in order to write about Wicked.
Thanks for Listening,
