Understanding Your Value!

On this blessed Sunday morning Joel Osteen’s  message is “Understanding Your Value!” In today’s economy with the prices fluctuating on the value of the dollar, commodities, stocks, houses, land or just about anything we may want to purchase. It is important that we understand our value so we don’t diminish what we are worth. I thought it was quite a coincidence today when Joel used different objects, like a bat or a handkerchief, to explain what they might be worth.

Here in Detroit, Michigan we are having the North American International Auto Show and the prices of the vehicles range from a few thousand dollars up to a great many thousands of dollars, but these vehicles are used for the very same thing transportation. These are my notes that I took as I watched and listened to Joel’s broadcast today: One of the greatest needs we all have is to feel a sense of self-worth; We shouldn’t get our self-worth from the wrong places, like from what we own or from what other people think about us.

Joel quoted these verses of Scripture:

Our value should come solely from the fact that we are children of the most high God; The enemy will use negative thoughts about ourselves to try and steal our self-worth; Psychologists tell us that our self-worth comes from what we think the most important person in our life thinks about us; The key to maintaining a true sense of value is to let your heavenly Father (God) be the most important person in your life, base your sense of value on what He says about you! You are God’s masterpiece an are custom made; One of a kind!

Out of all of God’s creations, you, are what He cares about most, you are His masterpiece; We are valuable because God has created us in His image; There was an article and researchers calculated how much the human body was worth; To their best estimate the average person is worth six million dollars; You are extremely valuable; In our mind the negative voices play the loudest, but God says, you’re fearfully and wonderfully made, you’re talented, you’re creative, you’re anointed, you’re smart, you’re intelligent, you’re amazing, God chooses you; You are God’s masterpiece and of great value to Him!

This is the information from the podcast page Understanding Your Value by Joel Osteen:

One of the greatest needs is to feel a sense of self-worth. Deep down we need to know that we’re important, that our life matters, and that we have something great to offer. But so often, we base our self-worth on our looks, what we’ve achieved, what we own, how perfect a life we’ve lived, or what others say or think of us. The problem with this is those things can change. If you’re basing your self-worth on your looks, your accomplishments, or your popularity; then when that goes down, your self-worth will go down. But if you place your value in Almighty God, nothing you or anyone else do can ever change that value.

People may reject you, but God accepts you. Other people may overlook you, but God sees you. The One who matters the most chooses you and has equipped you for everything you need in life. The value God put in you is permanent.

If you’ll learn to receive your value from your Heavenly Father and listen to what He says about you, then you’ll go around feeling accepted, approved, redeemed, forgiven, confident and secure. You won’t be easily moved by your circumstances and what others may say. You will continually rise to the top because you understand your value in Almighty God!

You are God’s masterpiece and of great value to Him!
