On this damp and gray skied Sunday morning Joel Osteen’s message is titled “Enjoy the Journey!” (Emphasis Mine) These are my notes as I watched and listened to Joel’s broadcast today: Life is not about the destination, it is about how we live all along the way. Joel’s words brought to mind my post Mary’s Soul has left this World, and how I talked about The Journey we are all on in life! Which brings to mind the many different parts or instances in our everyday life Joel is referring to in today’s message. Like missing out on the simple things in life we should be enjoying. We need to slow down and enjoy the journey. Reaching our goals in life only to find out that we missed many important moments by hurrying our lives away.
The real joys in life are in the simple things. It’s in being with your family. Getting up early and seeing the sunrise. Taking a walk through the park. Doing the things that bring joy and peace to your heart, instead of rushing through life. What are you sacrificing to reach your goals? Have they cost you the most precious moments of your life to achieve what you thought in your mind was the most important thing? Wake up an enjoy the moment, now, tomorrow maybe too late! Enjoy the journey today (James 4:14), or like a mist that appears for a little while our lives will vanish.
Life goes on whether you are taking the time to enjoy the journey or not. Joel told a story about how Frank Lloyd Wright, the famous architect, would take the time to look at all the different things of interest along the way to what he was supposed to be seeing. His philosophy was: “I still got to where I was going but I enjoyed all the sights along the way.” We need to enjoy all of the great things that God has given us to see and enjoy each day. Take a moment to “stop and to smell the roses” enjoying the moment and having fun living the life God has given us!
This is the information from This Week’s Message page about today’s broadcast titled Enjoy the Journey by Joel Osteen:
Life is not about the destination; it’s about how we live all along the way. It’s easy to become so goal oriented and focused on our dreams and the big life events that we overlook the simple things that we should be enjoying. Don’t make the mistake of just living for the destination to where your life goes by in a blur because life is short; we’re here for a moment then we’re gone. Take time to smell the roses. Appreciate the people in your life. Enjoy your spouse and children. As you make the decision to slow down and enjoy the journey, you will experience the fullness of what God has in store. When you come to the end of your life, you’ll have no regrets. You will have made the most of your life and will finish your course with joy.
Be blessed and enjoy the Journey!
Thanks for Listening,
