Overcoming Discouragement

On this the first Sunday of the season of autumn Joel Osteen’s message is titled “Overcoming Discouragement.” These are my notes that I took as I watched and listened to Joel’s broadcast: Overcoming our numerous difficulties in life are something each one of us must face without getting discouraged. We all must learn to be able to pass and to deal with this discouragement test in life so that we can make it to our promise land. God is directing our steps in life…It’s up to us to accept these discouragements and remain faithful to Him, each day. Keeping our eyes focused on God’s Word, with a good attitude, will help us to slam the door on discouragement; not answering its call to disappointment, in our lives.

By keeping our heart and mind open to the mercy and goodness of God, we will reach our destiny in life, and find our promise land. When we pass the test of discouragement, we will find a new level of our destiny, becoming all that God has created us to be in life. Whatever your passion is in life know that God has your best interest at heart, He will breathe new life into your spirit. Making you able to achieve your purpose in life, you wouldn’t be here if God didn’t have a purpose for you to fulfill. Discouraging thoughts in our mind are not what we should be believing in, in life. The resurrection of our soul for eternity, with God, is what we should be believing in, keeping this life here on earth in perspective, in relation to eternity.

Joel quoted these verses of Scripture:

This is the information from This Week’s Message page about today’s broadcast titled Dealing with Overcoming Discouragement by Joel Osteen:

Difficult seasons in life are hard whether struggling with finances, not feeling well, or dealing with troubled relationships. If we let it, discouragement can wear us down to where all that is seen is difficulties. Before long, discouragement becomes a heavy weight to carry around. But that isn’t what God intends for His children. Psalm 24:9 says, “Lift up your head and the King of Glory will come in.” During times of discouragement, God is saying it’s time to lift up your head! Psalm 30 says, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy is coming in the morning.” In discouraging seasons, you have to remind yourself that the lifter of your head, the Most High God, has promised that joy is coming.

Let God be the glory and the lifter of your head and work with Him to shake off discouragement. The only thing that should be heavy on you is the favor of God. Instead of being heavy with discouragement and depression, lift up your head, and be heavy with joy, with favor, with blessings and victory!

Be blessed this Sunday and always!

Thanks for Listening,
