On This Columbus Day

Columbus DayToday is a federal holiday and I’ve decided to take the day off from writing “On This Columbus Day,” although I will be posting something. And what I’m talking about is one of my writing goals: “Allow myself to take a break from writing every day.”

This is from my blog post last year: “I can picture myself saying, ‘Oops! I Missed Columbus Day’ and then writing about it. Or maybe saying, ‘Christopher Columbus has setout To Discover America!’ And then there is this post titled The Columbus Day Holiday! Followed by writing this post stating the fact that ‘Today is Columbus Day.’“ And what I’m doing here today is linking all my previous holiday entries together.

Here is the first paragraph regarding today’s holiday from The White House Blog about a Presidential Proclamation:

On October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus and his crewmembers sighted land after an ambitious voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. The ideals that guided them to this land — courage, determination, and a thirst for discovery — have inspired countless Americans and led to some of our Nation’s proudest accomplishments. Today, we renew our commitment to fostering the same spirit of innovation and exploration that will help future generations reach new horizons.

And when I make a blog entry like this, I always feel like I’m Resting on my Laurels, but hey it’s a holiday, an even I deserve a break every now and then: Don’t you think? So this concludes my writing practice for today, and Have a Great holiday!

Thanks for Listening,
