Go After the Prodigals

Hope from Joel Osteen Downloads

On this cloudy and damp springtime Sunday, with Joel Osteen’s message today to “Go After the Prodigals,” we all know people who used to be strong in their faith. These are my notes that I took as I watched and listened to Joel’s broadcast today. Please feel free to Click Here for today’s Podcast to listen to it for yourself.Recliner

The book of James talks about how we have to go after the prodigals. Somewhere along the way they got discouraged. We have to go after the people who have fallen away. We have a responsibility to bring these people back.

Just tell them three simple things, “We miss you,” “We need you,” and “We love you.” Friends love heals, love restores. When people know that you care, it makes a difference. The fact that you took the time to express your concern that’s what brings prodigals back home. God puts people in our path on purpose. What would happen if we all took time to reach out to a prodigal?

It’s amazing what it does for people. When you reach out to them, and let them know that you care. The closest thing to the heart of God is helping people that are hurting on the inside. Who is the one lost sheep? We need to help them. God is counting on each one of us to watch over our own flock.

Joel quoted these verses of Scripture:

This is the information from This Week’s Message page about today’s broadcast titled Go After the Prodigals by Joel Osteen:

James 5:19-20 says, “If you know people who have wandered off from God’s truth, don’t write them off. Go after them. Get them back and you will have rescued precious lives from destruction…” (The Message)

We all know people who used to be strong in their faith, who were excited about God and their life. But somewhere along the way, they got off course or experienced a disappointment – maybe a sickness, a divorce or a loss, and now they’re discouraged and have checked out of life. God is counting on us to reach out to them in love and compassion. Who is discouraged, struggling, going through a rough patch? Can you call them? Visit them? Email them? When people know you care, you can be the catalyst that turns their life around for good and sees their faith restored.

God will bless you for helping others!

Thanks for Listening,
