On this Sunday I want to wish all the moms out there a “Happy Mother’s Day,” and Joel Osteen’s message is titled “Accept People For Who They Are”. We can’t change people into who we want them to be, God has created each one of us to be unique. These are my notes that I took as I watched and listened to Joel’s broadcast today. Please feel free to Click Here for today’s Podcast to listen to it for yourself. We all need to accept people for who they are, because that is who God has created each one of us to be. People are not going to be who we think they should be, each one of us has our own destiny and purpose in life, and we are to do God’s will.
You’ve heard the expression that “opposites attract” because we are drawn to people that are much different than ourselves. A mark of maturity in our lives is when we will accept people for who they are, who else could they be? We need to accept the people that God brings into our lives, just as they are, because it is easier for us to change ourselves then to try and change someone else. We can save ourselves a lot of frustration by just accepting people the way that they are, because that is who God has created them to be… Share love for one another in their uniqueness.
Joel quoted these verses of Scripture:
This is the information from This Week’s Podcast page about today’s broadcast titled Accept People For Who They Are by Joel Osteen:
It’s easy to focus on others’ faults and what we would like to change about them. But, God is the one that put the talents, creativity and strengths into each person.
Isaiah 64:8 says, “We’re the clay and you’re our potter: all of us are what you made us.” (The Message)
Our job isn’t to change people. Learn to accept that God is the one directing their steps, making them and molding them into who He wants them to be. If you’ll learn to love, honor and accept people for who they are right now, your relationships will go to a whole new level.
God will bless you for accepting people!
